Self-tapping screws can be made in almost any head styles. These Screws come with a sharp, piercing tip or a flat. The sharp-tipped screws are designed for drilling their own hole into softer materials such as wood and plastic so they do not need a pilot hole. Common features are the screw thread covering the whole length of the screw from tip to head and a pronounced thread hard enough for the intended substrate, often case-hardened. The hardened screws are for substance where the core is hard and the non- hardened screws are made where the application of screws is in softer materials like wood and plastic.
